The women’s basketball team (2-6, 1-2 in conference) made a late run in the second half but fell short in its 74-64 loss against Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday in Thatcher.

The Aztecs went on an 8-0 run in 1 minute and 11 seconds, which cut Eastern’s lead to 65-56 with 2:31 left in the game but Pima wouldn’t get closer than that.

A’jha Edwards (Tombstone HS) finished the game with a team-high 27 points and 16 rebounds. Ashlei Scott (Chandler HS) had 10 points and three steals while Raja Moreno (Tucson HS) contributed with eight points and nine rebounds.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Saturday when they host Central Arizona College at 2 p.m.
