The Pima Community College men’s golf team closed out its first tournament of the season in 4th place out of six teams on Tuesday at the Hillcrest Golf Course in Sun City.

The Aztecs had a team-score of 589 as they finished 9-strokes better than Monday’s score (299-290). South Mountain Community College finished in 1st place with a team-score of 556 (280-276).

Joe Courtney finished with an even-par score of 144 (72-72) for the two-day tournament and was tied for 7th place. James Cooper (Agave HS) was 4-strokes better in his second day score as he finished with a 146 (75-71) which put him tied for 12th place. Henry Cunningham finished with a 149 (75-74), Landyn Lewis (Tucson Magnet) shot a two-day score of 153 (80-73), Sean Mullen (Palo Verde HS) shot a 154 (77-77) and Austin Stuessel closed out the tournament at 158 (84-74).

The Aztecs will play their next tournament at Legacy Golf Course in Laveen, AZ on Feb. 18th and 19th. It will be hosted by South Mountain Community College.
