The Pima Community College men’s tennis team (2-3, 1-2 in conference) fell behind against Mesa Community College in doubles competition on Tuesday at the West Campus and couldn’t take controls in singles as it lost 5-4.

Joe Owen (Douglas HS) lost in three sets to Ryan Huss in the No. 1 singles match 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Owen had won the first set but dropped the next two as the match sealed the win for Mesa. Brian Soto (Nogales HS) was the last to finish as he was able to recover after dropping the second set to beat Jessie Washburn in the No. 6 singles match 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 7-5. Dylan Vo (Ironwood Ridge HS) won his No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 while at No. 4 singles DJ Campus (Douglas HS) won his match 6-2, 6-3.

The Aztecs dropped two of the three doubles matchups as Landon Trejo (St. David HS) and Soto won in the No. 3 doubles match 8-2.

The Aztecs will have a week off and play Paradise Valley Community College at the West Campus on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 1:30 p.m.
