Two things were different for the Dorados last Friday in a 56-13 win over Nogales — starting quarterback Mike Lewis did not play due to a hand injury, and standout junior running back Ka'Deem Carey was absent from the backfield for much of the first half, the result of a violation of team rules.

Junior quarterback Jason McBrayer and senior wideout Jared Tevis made sure CDO's dominant ways would continue. McBrayer threw for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for two more. Tevis had one receiving touchdown, and added another on a 60-yard punt return.

Upon his return, Carey rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown. The Dorados now turn their attention toward a contest with wide-ranging state implications — the upcoming contest with Scottsdale Saguaro this Friday at 7 p.m.

Mountain View

The Mountain Lions fell to 0-4 on the season with a 43-20 loss at Sunnyside on Friday.

The Blue Devils outgained Mountain View in total yardage, 364-151. Some big gains in the receiving game provided a bright spot for the Mountain Lions, as senior wide receiver Mark Vera had two grabs for 62 yards, and junior Hymann Aires reeled in three catches for 44 yards. Vera also ran a kick back 95 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Senior running back Myles Williams added the other Mountain Lion touchdown on a 5-yard run in the second quarter, finishing the game with 46 yards on 16 attempts. Junior kicker Chris Delgado added two field goals to the Mountain View scoring total. The Mountain Lions leave Marana to take on Tucson High on Friday at 7 p.m.

Pusch Ridge

Pusch Ridge notched its third straight shutout with a 64-0 blanking of Baboquivari last Friday night. The Lions tallied three touchdowns through the air, two from starting quarterback Greg Schimke, who ended with 141 yards passing. Juniors Chad Springetti and Tyler Vance hauled in touchdowns catches, as did senior Wiley Lewis. Seniors Brett Overstreet and Mitch Woody added special teams scores to the Lions' tally, with returns of 45 and 85 yards, respectively.

The defensive line also got some time in the limelight, as junior defensive lineman Alfonso Ferrari returned a fumble one yard for a touchdown late in the first half. Pusch Ridge will travel to San Manuel this Friday night at 7 p.m.
