This Optimist Oro Valley Junior Championship is the Arizona qualifier for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Players will have their entry fee, accommodations (room and board) and, possibly, their transportation paid into the International event if they win their bracket.

The Optimist Oro Valley Junior Championships includes range balls both days and a dinner on Sunday (6/9) after play.

The Boys 10-11, Boys 12-13, Girls 10-11 and Girls 13-14 Age Brackets will play at Crooked Tree Golf Course. The Boys 14-15, Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18 Age Brackets will play at Oro Valley CC.

This is the qualifier for the Arizona Optimist International (see website below) - Qualified* winners of the Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18 division will get expenses paid into the Optimist International at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida provided they are Arizona residents. The Optimists will pay the following expenses for these winners: tournament entry fee, 5 nights lodging, 5 breakfasts, 4 dinners, airfare up to $450, and access to all Optimist functions and special events. This has a value between $650 - $1170 per person. The winners of the other age brackets may have their entries and/or travel expenses paid depending upon the outcome of the Optimists' fundraising. If you are not an Arizona resident, you can still play in this event, but please go to the Optimist International website (link at bottom right) to see how you can qualify for the Optimist International.

*To be a qualified winner, winners must shoot a qualifying score of:

Boys 16-19 (156), Girls 15-18 (170), Boys 14-15 (166), Girls 13-14 (184), Boys 12-13 (180), Girls 10-12 (192), Boys 10-11 (192) and be an Arizona resident to be eligible for paid entry fees and expenses. We have 17 entries available into the 2013 event. Note: These are the numbers for the 2012 event. The 2013 numbers have not been posted, yet.

Boys 16-19 and Girls 15-18 must be within the age bracket as of July 29, 2012, the date of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships for these brackets (July 24-29, 2012). Dates will be updated for 2013 when available.

Boys 14-15, Boys 12-13, Boys 10-11, Girls 13-14 and Girls 11-12 must be within the age bracket as of July 23, 2012, the date of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships for these brackets (July 19-24. 2012). If you are nine years old by July 23 you may "play up" and compete. Dates will be updated for 2013 when available.

There is a limit on the number of entries. The first paid entries up to the limit in each bracket will be accepted in the order they entered. After that, entries will be accepted for the waiting list in case of withdrawals.

Last date to withdraw with refund (less $10 processing fee) is June 1.

This is a spectator event for all age groups. Spectators must be in proper golf attire. OVCC is a private club. Anyone on the grounds must be wearing proper golf attire. See below for "Dress Code" which applies to players, spectators and anyone on the golf course property.

At OVCC: Practice rounds available after 1PM Thursday 6/6 and Friday 6/7. Tournament participants only - $18 junior walking rate. You may make tee time reservations up to four days in advance by calling OVCC (520) 297-3322.

Parents and guests may pay to join the banquet with the players. You must email to make a reservation by Wednesday 6/5. This email reserves your place and guarantees you will pay when players check in on Saturday. The banquet is Sunday after play.
