Many of our volunteers are winter visitors or go on vacation during the summer.
Here are four ways you can help make a difference:
• Volunteer in our Loving Threads Clothing Bank or Food Bank
• Host a food or clothing drive with your neighbors/club/business
• Assist youngsters in fun morning activities and learning projects
• Volunteer in our new Senior Center, assisting with meals and activities
Volunteer in our Loving Threads Community Clothing Bank. It’s different from a clothing store. We’re a community clothing bank, serving area individuals and families in need. Loving Threads is located in Catalina Pointe Plaza, 15920 N. Oracle Road, Suite 150, and open Monday through Friday. As one of our five major programs, our customers qualify based on their income and needs. The goal of Loving Threads is beyond providing needed clothing. The program is intended to free up income that might otherwise be spent on clothing, so that families are more easily able to pay for basic or unforeseen expenses.
Volunteer as an assistant in our summer youth program during June or July. It only takes a few hours.
Here are just a few of the activities youngsters from our client families will be involved in this summer: learning about electricity with Pima County’s Mad Science program, building an ecosystem, going on a bird study/nature walk, sewing memory quilts, and Zumba. And, that’s just in June!
Volunteer in our new senior center in Catalina Pointe Shopping Center. You can help with a variety of activities, such as movie afternoons, card and game days, Bingo Tuesday, and morning coffees. We also need help preparing and serving mid-day meals on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays as well as drivers for meal delivery to area homebound seniors.
It’s easy to make a difference in our community. Come to our Open House on June 11 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to learn more about joining our team of compassionate volunteers! Or call our Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa, at 825-0009 to schedule a tour.
