Is it racist?

Regarding coverage of Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller’s comments about being white: I’m confused. What is wrong/racist about someone saying they are proud of being white? I grew up on the East side of Detroit, mixed neighborhood.

I am sure the black family next door was proud of their race and I never had any problems being white. I was in the same grade as the Rogers twins (Max and Jake). Today it is great to be proud of your African, Hispanic or Oriental heritage but obviously not of your Caucasian forbears. I suspect most white people don’t make an issue their heritage but are not ashamed of it either. Live and let live.
