Oro Valley

On Saturday, Sept. 21 at about 3:12 a.m., Oro Valley police responded to a call about two male subjects who appeared intoxicated as they drove in the Walmart parking lot. An officer already at Walmart said he saw the car with its lights off turning into the parking lot. The driver ran a stop sign and then parked across several handicap parking spots. The driver said he had not consumed any alcohol. The driver had watery bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of intoxicants on his breath. There was also a 30-pack of beer in the front of the car. The officer ran a couple DUI tests and the driver had his blood drawn from the Oro Valley Hospital. The driver later admitted to having three 12-ounce beers between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. The driver was cited and released on a citation for a DUI impaired to the slightest degree.


On Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 9:23 a.m., Oro Valley police responded to a call about damage to a car. The car owner said someone slashed the front two tires some time during the school day on Sept. 17. He said his daughter drives the car and attends Ironwood Ridge High School. It will cost $410.84 for two new tires. There are no suspects or witnesses but he will prosecute if an arrest is made.

On Sunday, Sept. 15 at about 7 a.m., Oro Valley police responded to a call about suspicious activity. The caller said that a male was sleeping in the back of a car and that two African American males had left him there. The officer called to the male in the car, but he didn’t respond. He reached and shook the subject who woke up. The officer smelled burnt marijuana and saw a glass smoking bong. The male said the two African American males are his friends and he doesn’t know why they left him in that location. The male said he had a marijuana card but he didn’t have it in his possession and could not remember the card number. The officer noticed the male had watery, red eyes and the odor of intoxicants. Marijuana fragments, a wooden vaporizer, a digital scale and vodka were found in the passenger compartment. The male admitted to drinking alcohol. The male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia as a minor with alcohol in system. He was also charged with minor in possession of alcohol.
