Since the end of September, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has experienced several commercial burglaries which have occurred primarily in strip malls on the northwest side of Tucson.

Through close communication with other regional law enforcement agencies, it was learned that neighboring jurisdictions have experienced burglaries with similar methods of operation. It is very likely that these burglaries are being committed by the same suspect(s).

There are 50 cases between the Sheriff’s Department, Oro Valley Police Department, Marana Police Department, and Sahuarita Police Department.

Suspects are gaining access into a small business in a strip mall and subsequently gaining access into adjoining businesses.

Detectives have collected evidence and at this time the evidence is being analyzed and processed. This morning, there was another burglary in the River Road/Craycroft Road area, believed to be the same individual(s).

According to Dawn Barkman, of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect(s) gained access into the interior of a small strip mall and had entered the ductwork.

However, in this incident, an owner was in one of the businesses. The owner heard noise, looked up and saw a suspect in the venting system. The business owner called 911, but the suspect fled the area prior to deputies arriving.

Today, the Sheriff’s Department is releasing video surveillance, which shows one of the suspects getting out of a mid to late 1990’s, white, single cab, Toyota Tacoma with camper shell.

The suspect looks up towards the roof and then utilizes a shopping cart and a wooden pallet to climb onto the roof.

Anyone with information regarding the burglaries or anyone who can identify the suspect in the video or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact 911 or 88-CRIME (882-7463).
