Golder Ranch Fire District firefighters responded to a 1 acre brush fire in the area know as Charlou Gap, according to department spokesperson Ann-Marie Braswell.

Braswell says that the fire was sparked by lightning, but is now under control and that crew will monitor it throughout the night.

Higher up in Catalina State Park, another fire was sparked by lightning in a remote area known as Buster Mountain.

The U.S. Forest Service has not sent any crews but is monitoring the blaze that is estimated to be around 10 acres in size. The fire is expected to burn itself out.
