Pima County’s Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation Department and the Town of Oro Valley will hold a public meeting next Monday, Oct. 23, seeking input on development of the Big Wash trail and trailhead.
An open house-style meeting with maps of the trail and trailhead will be presented at the Oct. 23 meeting, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Icagen Inc., 2090 E. Innovation Park Drive in Oro Valley.
The proposed trail will be a single track, 1.2-mile earthen path extending from the bed of the wash at Ranch Vistoso Boulevard northward. Oro Valley will be building the trailhead at the southwest corner of Rancho Vistoso Boulevard and Big Wash.
Among the list of improvements to the area are: improved dust-free surface for public parking and access; drainage infrastructure; 64 parking spaces; equestrian trailer parking and mounting block; a bike rack; restroom facilities with low-level lighting and drinking fountain; signage for park and trailhead rules informational kiosk and shaded seating.
Questions may be directed to NRPR’s Steve Anderson, 724-5225, Steve.Anderson@pima.gov.
