Former Mountain View softball standout Jessica Sipe is now a national champion. Sipe helped lead West Texas A&M to the Division II softball national championship on May 26.

West Texas A&M beat Valdosta State 3-2 in Salem, Virginia to win their first softball national title, and just the fourth in school history.

Sipe went 1-3 in the game with a walk and a run scored in the Buffs three-run third inning. Sipe led off he inning with a double off the wall and scored on a three-run home run by Brittany Gehle.

After two years at Pima College, Sipe transferred to West Texas A&M and played in 124 games in two years. She hit .371 overall and .388 this past season as a senior. She belted 31 home runs over two seasons, driving in 140 runs and scoring 109 times for one of the most potent offenses in Division II.

She was also a stellar fielder, boasting a .937 fielding percentage.
