Bong and a bust
Thinking that the cover of darkness would allow them to smoke marijuana at a community park in the Mira Vista neighborhood, three teens were in for a surprise when busted by OVPD.
At 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, two OVPD officers responded to a neighborhood near West Tangerine Road and North La Cañada Drive in reference to a report of two SUVs in the parking lot of a park. The reportee indicated that she could smell marijuana in the air.
The officers noted the two vehicles upon arrival, and that two individuals immediately entered one of the SUVs and attempted to leave the scene. A third suspect remained at the scene with the other vehicle. All three were stopped and identified, and one told an officer they were only smoking cigars, but his friend spilled the beans.
The second suspect told the other officer that all three of them had been smoking from a bong in the park earlier and proceeded to show the officer where it was all hidden. Once confronted with the information, the other two suspects copped to their crimes.
One suspect was referred to the Pima County Juvenile Court for unlawful possession of marijuana and for paraphernalia. His two friends were referred to their parents, who arrived on-scene, for unlawful possession of marijuana.
