A fire completely destroyed a mobile home in the 1100 block of West Miracle Mile, the fire being started intentionally.

A shed next to the mobile home was set on fire and the fire spread quickly to the mobile home.

Multiple calls were made to 9-1-1 reporting smoke and flames coming from the mobile home.  The first TFD unit arrived on scene three minutes after being dispatched and reported the mobile home approximately 50 percent involved in flames.

Due to the level of fire involvement, the decision was made to fight the fire defensively, or from the exterior with the emphasis on protecting the neighboring mobile homes. The mobile home to the south had damage to the exterior due to the high temperatures but units were able to keep the fire from spreading into the home.

The flames were also threatening a power line in the same area to the south.

After the crew extinguished the majority of the flames they were able to enter the mobile home and perform a search of the home to ensure no one was inside.

Nine units consisting of twenty-one firefighters controlled the fire ten minutes after arriving on scene. There were no injuries to firefighters and Red Cross was not needed at the scene.

The mobile home was considered a total loss. Tucson Police Department detectives are conducting the investigation as to who started the fire.
