With a food drive for both pets and people, and a special holiday card, the Madaras Gallery is ready for the holiday season.

Animal lovers can participate in the Madaras Gallery Food Drive for Pets & People from Dec. 1 to Dec. 15. The program will benefit the Humane Society, Pima Animal Care Center and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.

People can drop off donations of pet food or non-perishable people food at either gallery location: 3001 E. Skyline Drive, No. 101, or 1535 E. Broadway.

The kick off party for the food drive will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, starting at 5 p.m.

The public is invited to the party, with carolers for entertainment, and food to be served around a 12-foot Christmas tree.

Madaras Gallery, owned by Diana Madaras, will also have the new “Angels Over Tucson” image on cards this season.

Angel Charity for Children, Inc. commissioned the painting in 2010, which incorporates their angel logo. A portion of Madaras Gallery’s sales of the holiday cards, ornaments, art tiles and prints featuring “Angels Over Tucson” will be donated to the charity.

Besides the “Angels Over Tucson” card, Madaras said the shop has a selection of 35 holiday cards this season.

Another popular Madaras holiday card, “Kitty Humbug,” is based on a grumpy cat she met at her veterinarian’s office.  A portion of proceeds from this card will be donated to her own Art for Animals charity foundation, which helps hungry, homeless, abused and injured animals in southern Arizona.
