Aug. 6 lecture helps people integrate daily exercise into their lives

Guests at a free lecture on Thursday, Aug. 6 can learn how to exercise on a daily basis – even when they have a limited amount of time.

"Integrating Exercise Throughout Your Day" is the topic of the next Commit To Be Fit lecture at 7 p.m. that Thursday at Oro Valley Hospital.

Exercise physiologist Kristen Guzman, B.S., plans to discuss "how you can easily add activity to your day and which activities provide you with the most benefit in a short amount of time," a release said. She'll also teach quick workouts you can perform both at home and at work.

MHC system offers reduced-rate visits

Clinics hope to help people with preventive care

MHC Healthcare is offering a special, reduced-rate visit for uninsured and / or sliding scale patients.

The corporation's 13 primary care clinics are helping patients with $15 medical appointments dealing with preventive care during the July 1-March 31 timeframe.

"With many family budgets feeling unusual strain these days, we hope this small offer on our part may provide some help," said chief executive officer Clarence Vatne.

Visits for both adults and children might include infant / child checkup, adult preventive exam, school sports physical, pre-employment screening, and pregnancy exam / test, a release said.

People with questions about other visits that might qualify may call any MHC clinic throughout the greater Tucson area. Dental and pharmacy services are not included in the reduced-rate offer.

With the Marana Health Center as its flagship, the corporation's other locations are Ortiz, Santa Catalina, Clinica del Alma, MHC Ob/Gyn, Keeling, Pima CC West, TMC Primary Care, Rita Ranch, Catalina High School, Flowing Wells, Wilmot and Freedom Park.

At present, those clinics serve 35,000 patients making 100,000 visits annually.
