With its home-like atmosphere of personable hairdressers, holiday decorations and high-quality services, Ivan’s Studio has left a lasting impression on its clientele.

Owner Wendy Grenfell opened the salon 27 years ago with the intention of wanting to help other hairdressers work in an environment and job they love. The salon started out with two seats, but has expanded to five. The salon is located at 4771 N. First Avenue.

“I want to help people make their own money to make their own life,” said Grenfell. “We are all really down to earth here and genuinely care for everyone that comes in.”

Four out of the five hairdressers have worked at Ivan’s Studio for more than 13 years. All of the hairdressers are licensed and strive to give their clients quality services.

Services range from haircuts, styling, coloring, straightening and perms to men’s services, nail care, makeup services and waxing.  Their primary services are haircuts and coloring. Grenfell is one of only three hairdressers in Tucson who is an American Board Certified Hair Colorist.

“I’d say our customer service sets us apart from other places – that and we are very service oriented. I like to give back to the community,” said Grenfell.

Ivan’s Studio has given free haircuts to elementary school children and to people who donate to Locks of Love – a non-profit charity that, accepts donations of human hair, which is then made into wigs for medically ill or financially disadvantaged children. Grenfell will also occasionally donate her time to helping women who are going through chemotherapy. Apart from community services, Ivan’s Studio prides itself on its customer service.

“We want the haircut and hairstyle to fit your lifestyle and personality,” said Grenfell.

Grenfell attends six hair shows each year to stay up to date on new and upcoming hairstyles, haircuts and hair products. Grenfell, along with the other hairdressers at Ivan’s Studio, meet with local hairdressers throughout the year to share ideas, solve problems and learn from each other. The salon is open Tuesday through Saturday.
