Based on the classic collection of stories by British novelist and literary mastermind Rudyard Kipling, director Jon Favreau will be retelling the story of “The Jungle Book” in a film set to release on April 15.

The movie will be a live-action epic surrounding Mowgli, played by relative newcomer Neel Sethi, a ”man-cub” raised by a family of wolves, under pack leader Akela, voiced by  Giancarlo Esposito. Alongside the wolves are the fearsome panther Bagheera, voiced by Ben Kingsley and the lovable bear Baloo, voiced by none other than Bill Murray.

While many in the jungle accept Mowgli as one of their own, the fate of the young human comes into question upon the introduction of the fearsome tiger, Shere Khan, voiced by Idris Alba. Alongside the aforementioned voiceactors will be Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken, among others.

While Disney had previously given fans the opportunity to see some of the CGI-produced animals and hear some of the voice actors at work, there hasn’t been much in the way of a long trailer or teaser, until recently.

The video, titled “Intro to Shere Khan” gives a spine-chilling look at just how menacing Alba’s voice is in the role of the violent tiger – one who bears the scars of human hands. Shere Khan’s character isn’t exactly a protagonist, and Alba adds a dark edge to the character.
