Councilman Lou Waters

On behalf of the Town Council, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Oro Valley. Oro Valley is rich in history and natural beauty and we cannot think of a better location to hold your national event. Our community has a reputation as a haven for hikers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts.

In 2011 and 2012, Oro Valley earned the “Playful City USA” designation from KaBOOM! and the Humana Foundation.

In addition to our recreational amenities, we have a variety of shops and restaurants. During your stay, we hope that you have an opportunity to enjoy the many wonderful attributes Oro Valley has to offer.

Oro Valley is the ideal location to host the Arizona distance Classic. As one of the nation’s Healthiest Towns in America, sports are a fabric of our life. Sports allow participation by many different ages and showcases one’s physical abilities. Sports provide the opportunity to learn about sportsmanship, character, courage, integrity, commitment and, most importantly, how to work together as a team.

From beginning athletes to the seasoned Olympian, sports activities cross many boundaries. In Oro Valley, we support the values of amateur athletics. We hope you enjoy  your stay and wish everyone the best during the race.

Welcome to Oro Valley!

(Editor’s Note: Satish Hiremath is the mayor of Oro Valley and Lou Waters is the town’s vice mayor.)
