Three people who were shot in a drive-by shooting on Ina Road early Tuesday morning are expected to recover, while authorities continue searching for the gunman.

Dawn Barkman, spokeswoman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said they responded to the emergency call around 2:14 a.m. near the corner of Ina and Mona Lisa roads.

Barkman said the three people injured were in a white sedan when eyewitnesses say a dark-colored SUV heading westbound on Ina shot at them.

The driver of the white sedan lost control, causing it to flip and run into a nearby power line. All three passengers in the car were shot. The male and two female subjects were taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

By 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, Barkman said it appears all three victims will survive.

With the investigation just getting under way, Barkman said police still don’t know if the people inside the white Sedan returned fire, and do not know if the victims know the gunman.

Barkman said they are seeking public assistance to identify the driver of the dark-colored SUV, which based on eyewitness accounts, is either dark green or black, and could be a Range Rover.

Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME.

Westbound traffic on Ina Road is down to one lane as police remain on scene, and officials from TEP work with a towing crew to remove the white sedan.
