Rep. Ron Barber worked to bring financial certainty to Southern Arizona counties with large areas of federal land and to increase funding for preventing and fighting devastating wildfires.

Barber sought to amend a public lands bill by including a five-year extension of the PILT program and to add $100 million to wildfire prevention and fighting.

"I am committed to fighting for the Payment in Lieu of Taxes program to save Southern Arizona jobs and so Pima and Cochise counties will have the funding they need to provide crucial services to their residents," Barber said today. "The people I represent must not be forced to wait and worry each year about whether they will have these badly needed funds." Feb. 6, 2013.
