Wildcat alumnae Brigette Del Ponte, Caitlin Lowe and Taryne Mowatt will compete for the National Pro Fastpitch title as the NPF Championship begins Thursday.

Del Ponte’s Akron Racers take on Mowatt and the NY NJ Comets in the Championship Series’ opening round.

The winner of the contest will take on Caitlin Lowe and the USSSA Pride for a chance to advance to the NPF Championship – a best of three meeting with the top-seeded Chicago Bandits.

Game two of the championship series will be broadcast live on ESPN2 on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. PDT while the if-necessary third game will be broadcast on ESPN3.com following the second game.

Del Ponte, a rookie with the Racers after finishing up her eligibility at Arizona in 2013, tied for the team lead with seven home runs while driving in 18 runs and hitting .243 during the regular season.

Mowatt, the 2007 Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player, has thrown 45.2 innings for the Comets.

Lowe, four time all-American and UA’s current Director of Operations, hit .351 during the regular season while appearing in all 48 games for the Pride.
