Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to get the Tucson Padres within one run Friday, but the Padres couldn't get the tying run on base and lost to the Reno Aces, 8-7. The Padres have dropped nine consecutive games, their longest losing streak in their two-year team history.

The Padres scored four times in the second inning and Jedd Gyorko hit a solo home run in the top of the third to put Tucson in front, 5-2. Reno sent nine batters to the plate against Jorge Reyes in the third, scoring five times on six hits. The biggest hit in the rally was Rusty Ryal's three-run home run.

Daniel Robertson doubled to lead off the top of the ninth and scored on Grandal's home run, but that was as close as the Padres would get. Tucson had a strong offensive night, tallying more hits than Reno, 12-11. Eight of the nine Padres starting players had at least one hit. San Diego infielder Andy Parrino went 1-for-3 in his first injury rehab game. Parrino is on the Major League disabled list with a wrist injury.
