The Tucson Padres became the first Pacific Coast League team to beat Graham Godfrey in 2012, winning 8-4 in Sacramento Saturday night. Godfrey held the Padres without a run for five innings but Tucson took advantage of three walks and five hits to score six times in the top of the sixth inning. The Padres used three more walks to score twice in the seventh inning in the victory.
Tucson starter Colt Hynes pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three earned runs, picking up his fourth win of the season. Cory Burns pitched a scoreless eighth inning and has struck out five of the six hitters he has seen in the series. Brad Boxberger struck out two in a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning.
Jeremy Hermida led the Padres offense Saturday, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Jesus Merchan and Anthony Contreras also had two hits for Tucson. The Padres have won three of their last four games, including two in a row, and are now 37-62, in fourth place, 21 games behind first place Sacramento.
