Former San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Carpenter held the Tucson Padres without a run through seven innings Tuesday, as the Las Vegas 51s beat the Padres, 8-2. Carpenter scattered seven hits and did not walk a batter. The Padres only runs scored on a two-run triple by Sawyer Carroll in the bottom of the ninth inning. Padres starter Kip Wells suffered the loss, allowing seven runs, six earned, in 4.1 innings of work.

Las Vegas leadoff hitter Anthony Gose began the game with a triple to left field and scored one batter later on a sacrifice fly by Adeiny Hechavarria. The 51s tacked on four more runs in the third inning, including three on a home run by Travis Snider, his sixth of the season. Las Vegas added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on a sacrifice fly by Jonathan Diaz and a bases loaded walk by Moises Sierra.

Carroll went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in his first game since being activated from the disabled list. San Diego Padres infielder Andy Parrino went 3-for-5 for Tucson, and has gone 9-for-17 in his injury rehab stint with the T-Pads. The Padres are now 1-7 against Las Vegas this season.
