WP: Hynes (6-8) LP: Savage (10-5) S: None Time: 3:10 Attn: 7,657

The Tucson Padres sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning Sunday, accounting for seven of the team’s ten runs, enough to hold off Albuquerque for a 10-8 victory at Isotopes Park.

The Padres took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a Beamer Weems’ RBI single. The Isotopes quickly answered back in the bottom half of the second when Ivan De Jesus lined a two-run home run to left field, putting Albuquerque ahead 2-1. De Jesus finished the game with four hits.

Tucson regained the lead in the top of the fourth when the offense exploded for seven runs. Sawyer Carroll tied the game with an RBI single to center field and Weems hit a three-run home run out to left, giving Tucson a 5-2 advantage. Weems’ home run was his third in the last three games he has played in dating back to July 27. Anthony Contreras and Andy Parrino kept the offense rolling with RBI hits of their own to increase the score to 7-2. Jeremy Hermida wrapped up the scoring with a sacrifice fly to bring in the seventh run of the inning. Contreras and Parrino struck again in the fifth, scoring two runs on a single and double to make the score 10-2 Padres.

Albuquerque started to creep back into the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth off a RBI ground out and an Elian Herrera two-out single. In the sixth inning, Tyler Henson singled to score De Jesus to add another run for the Isotopes. A wild pitch by Erik Hamren in the bottom of the seventh allowed Matt Angle to score and bring Albuquerque within four of Tucson. Two more runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the ninth for the Isotopes, but Neil Wagner struck out the final batter to secure the Padres victory.

Colt Hynes picked up his sixth win for Tucson going six innings allowing nine hits, five runs, and struck out four. Isotopes starter Will Savage lost his fifth game of the year, surrendering ten hits and eight runs in 3.1 innings of work.
