A Northwest-based men's softball team has won its second consecutive masters world championship in Las Vegas.

Older Than Dirt / The Loop restaurant compiled a 7-0 record and a team batting average of .738 in winning the 60 Major / AAA division at the Las Vegas Senior Softball Association championships.

The locals beat teams from California, Utah and Florida to win the championship. Games were played in 108-degree heat.

Art Macomber, Junior Gutierrez and Paul Land were named to the all-tourney team. Special recognition went to OTD's "rookies," Chuck Bullard, Steve Heath, Rick Hines and Bill Spevak.

The TOD team is comprised of players 60 years and older from all over the Tucson area. It competes on Sundays in a competitive senior softball program at Maurietta Park in southern Tucson.

Members of the title squad are Bob Donnelly, Steve Heath, Art Macomber, Rick Hines, Rocky Iannacchino, Junior Gutierrez, Dave Luebber, Chuck Bullard, Ron Ward, Bill Cheney, Steve Schreiber, Alan Dial, Larry Denzler, Bill Spevak and manager Paul Land.

Next, OTD / The Loop tries to defend its 2009 Senior Softball World Championships world title Oct. 22-23 in Phoenix.
