PCC Women’s Golf Take Second Place in Mesa Invitational


The Pima Community College women’s golf team finished tied for second place at the Mesa Invitational at the Dobson Ranch Golf Course on Wednesday. This is the fourth time this season the Lady Aztecs have taken second place.

The Lady Aztecs had a 19-stroke improvement from their first round finishing with a 727 (373-354) for the tournament. Scottsdale Community College also finished at 727 (361-366). Mesa Community College took first place for the fourth straight tournament with a 606 (301-305).

Three Lady Aztecs golfers had six-stroke improvements in their second day of play. Josie Trapnell was the top finisher for the Lady Aztecs with a 174 (90-84). Brittney Makar (Cienega HS) closed out the tournament with a 180 (93-87) and Martha Felix (Nogales HS) finished with a 183 (92-91). Paige Valles (Catalina Foothills HS) shot a 190 (98-92).

The Lady Aztecs will compete in the Estrella Mountain CC Invitational on Mar. 24-25 at the Maryvale Golf Course in Phoenix.
