The PCC volleyball team (11-9) had its home-undefeated streak snapped on Friday as the Aztecs lost in five sets 17-25, 17-25, 25-18, 31-29, 8-15 to Phoenix College. It was the fourth straight match the Aztecs had played five sets.

After dropping the first-two sets, the Aztecs rallied in the third using a 6-0 run to open their lead at 20-13 and winning it 25-18. In the fourth set, the Aztecs trailed 22-24 before tying it at 24. It took eight match-point opportunities between the two teams (Pima 4, Phoenix 4) but the Aztecs were able to win it 31-29. Phoenix was too much in the final set as Pima tied it early and were also able to cut its lead to 5-6 but that was as close as the Aztecs would get.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus’ Aztecs Gym on Wednesday when they host Glendale Community College at 7 p.m.
