Pima Community College Aztec Athletics

The Aztecs baseball team split its conference doubleheader against Cochise College. The Aztecs are now 31-20 overall and 20-13 in ACCAC conference and are in 3rd place in the ACCAC Division I standings with 5 games to go in the regular season.

Pima won the 1st game 8-0. Cole Plouck (#16 pictured) threw a complete-game shutout going seven innings giving up 4 hits with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks as he improved to 4-3 on the year. Dan Kennon went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs while Juan Gamez (pictured), Trey Stine and Steven Still each scored 2 runs.

Pima lost the 2nd game 2-1. Ethan Rosebeck (6-2) took the loss as he went 5 1/3 innings giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 9 hits with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks. Kellen Marruffo had an RBI and A.J. Acosta scored a run. Cooper Smith went 2 for 4 in the game.

The Lady Aztecs softball team lost a doubleheader at Central Arizona College. Pima is now 22-25 overall and 17-19 in ACCAC conference play. Alexis Dotson had her 19-game hitting streak snapped after she went 0 for 3 in the 2nd game.

Pima lost the 1st game 8-0 in 6 innings. Stephanie Vejar (10-10) took the loss. Dotson went 1 for 3 with a triple. Victoria Mariscal and Stacey Ramirez each went 1 for 2.

Pima lost the 2nd game 10-2 in 5 innings. Briana Urquidez (5-4) took the loss. The Lady Aztecs scored two runs in the 3rd inning; Paige Castro hit an RBI single to score Valerie Luera and Perla Munoz hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to plate Mariscal. Luera finished the game 2 for 3.
