In an inner-district showdown Thursday night, the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks got the job done against Canyon Del Oro, winning 42-14 after a big second half.

While the Nighthawks’ running game controlled the line of scrimmage for much of the night, several dropped passes by CDO’s receiving core kept the Dorados out of the game.

The game was close after the first quarter, with the Nighthawks leading 7-0, a lead they would keep for the remainder of the game.

Before halftime, the Nighthawks would score two more touchdowns, with the second coming with just over 30 seconds left in the first half.

Leading 21-7 at halftime, the Nighthawks came out in the second to score three more touchdowns and watch the Dorados’ offense struggle with drops and turnovers in the second half.
