Canyon Del Oro Little League started the 10-11 Little League Baseball State Championships with a huge win. Host CDO beat Mesa American 15-0 in the first round of the double-elimination tournament.

CDO’s Dante Schindler, Hayden Palmer and two other CDO pitchers teamed no-hit the visitors, while Schindler also pounded out three hits and three RBI’s.

CDO left little doubt right away as they scored 11 runs in the first inning and never looked back. They added two runs in the second and third and the game was called after Mesa American failed to score in the top of the fourth and the mercy rule was invoked.

CDO returns to action Tuesday night with a game against Rio Rico. They play at Kreigh Park #1 at 5 p.m.
