As the season continues, the Canyon Del Oro wrestling team recently hosted Cholla High School, Flowing Wells High School and Walden Grover High School on Jan. 9.

CDO started off against Cholla with key wrestlers such as Jake Bishop and Alex Romero pinning their opponents. Romero pinned his man in the first round with 16 seconds left, while Bishop won his match in the second round with 43 seconds left, keeping is undefeated record alive.

Other notable disputes against Cholla included Jeremiah Floyd winning 4-2 by decision after three rounds. Josh Henkel also won a match, pinning his man in the final round with 1:20 left.

The last win CDO would get out of Cholla would be for Jacob Michaels by forfeit because Cholla did not have a wrestler in the 190-pound weight class.

The CDO wrestlers would move on to the next team from Flowing Wells, which had a 5-4 record for the night.

CDO started with Teddy ……. Starting out strong for CDO.  After losing his first match against Cholla, Teddy would have accumulated for two takedowns and for also holding the shoulder for five seconds, giving him 7 points to win the match 7-0 after 3 rounds.

Bishop had another big face off against Flowing Wells with four takedowns and to later pin his opponent with 1:31 left in the final period.

Bishop would not be the only one with pins against Flowing Wells, as Josh Henkel and Brandon Eto both got their man in the first round. Henkel with 32 seconds left, and Eto with 1:17.

Kai Verra picked up his first win of the night in decision 14-2, and Garren Ramirez also won with a score of 8-2.

Floyd and Romero also added two wins from their decision matches. Michaels once again got another forfeit win due to no one in his weight class for the evening. The only loss CDO had against Flowing Wells was Giovannia Alvarez, who was pinned in the second round. CDO would move on with a nightly record of 13-5 against Walden Grove.

CDO would now take on its final school of the night Walden Grove. Starting off was Michaels, who took  his man down for the pin with one second remaining in the first period.

Eto would be up for his final match, and get his pin with 1:27 remaining. Romero earned a pin with 56 seconds left in the second period.

Garden Grove and CDO both had to forfeit two matches each for not having the right weight class.

CDO would finish 18-10 for the night, with their senior Jake Bishop staying undefeated through the season so far.
