Oro Valley has seen some solid softball in 2009, and now that the preps have ended their campaigns, Little League and club softball are continuing the trend.

Oro Valley Fastpitch, the biggest softball league in the area, saw great success in the citywide season-capping tournament last week.

In the 8-and-under bracket, the Mustangs took home first place, while the 10-and-under Punks, the 12-and-under Maniacs and the 14-and-under Velocity all took third place.

Canyon Del Oro softball phenom and future University of Arizona Wildcat Kenzie Fowler also took notice: the 2008 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year participated in Oro Valley Fastpitch's tournament ceremonies.

Fowler is trying out for the U.S. team.
