If Aaron McCommon’s opinions hold any water, the upcoming Arizona Diamondbacks Training Center camp in Oro Valley should be a real hit.
“They’re fun and they’re cool,” said the 9-year-old Little Leaguer. “They teach you a lot of things that you should know.”
McCommon got a glove full of baseball tips and skills during a similar clinic held a few weeks back in Tucson.
Despite the heat, he came home showing off what he learned, from ball grips and batting stances.
“He just ate it up,” said his mother Tracy. “He absolutely loved it.”
So it’s little surprise that Aaron schmoozed his parents into registering him for the July 7 to 11 camp at James D. Kriegh Park. The camp’s instructors include former pros, along with local collegiate and high school coaches.
Registrations for the camp, in its ninth year, continue until July 4. Fees run $150, which covers 15 hours of instruction, hat and T-shirt, and instructional DVD.
