The Pima Community College volleyball team (12-8, 3-5 in conference) got back in the win column on Wednesday defeating Chandler-Gilbert Community College in four sets (25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22).
The Aztecs took the lead early in the first game with a couple of kills by Kassidy Crawford (Sahuaro HS). Alexis Ammerman’s (Tucson Magnet HS) ace put it away. Pima held a slim lead in the second game but kills by Ammerman, Crawford and Andrea Burnett (Marana Mountain View HS) helped the Aztecs gain the advantage. After dropping the third game, the Aztecs regrouped and never trailed in the fourth game. Crawford had a kill and a block to end the game and the match.
Three players finished the match in double figures for kills. Crawford led the team with 18 kills while Ammerman finished with 16 and Kristen Hains (Marana Mountain View HS) had 14. Liz Mata (Flowing Wells HS) had 41 assists and Courtney Pitts finished the match with 26 digs.
The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Friday when they host South Mountain Community College at 7 p.m.
