Pima soccer

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (7-6, 7-6 in conference) played in another tough battle against No. 4 Yavapai College on Wednesday but the Aztecs lost 2-1 in the closing minutes at the Kino North Grandstand.

The Aztecs lost in overtime to Yavapai in Prescott 3-2 earlier this season and almost forced another overtime but Yavapai scored in the 89th minute to help seal it.

Trailing 1-0 in the first half, the Aztecs got on the board and tied it when Garrett Andreatta (Canyon del Oro HS) found the back of the net with an assist from Anthony Alvarez (Sunnyside HS) in the 19th minute.

Pima was held to three shots at the goal and Emmanuel Jimenez (Desert View HS) finished with seven saves for the game.

The Aztecs will be back at the Kino North Grandstand on Saturday when they host South Mountain Community College at 7 p.m.
