The Pima Community College women’s tennis team (7-3) overcame three tiebreakers on Monday to defeat Glendale College (Calif.) 8-1 in its first match as part of their California Tournament.

At No. 2 singles, Kari Emery (Flowing Wells HS) held off Allie Amor 6-3, 3-6, 10-8. Amy Beeston (Lehi HS, UT) had to fight back after dropping the first set to Amanda Dring but came back to win 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 in the No. 4 singles match. Julienne Cananea (Bradshaw Mountain HS) made her own comeback in her 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 victory over Sydni Farzadkish at No. 5 singles. The Aztecs had swept the doubles matches to help their cause.

The Aztecs will play at Orange County Coast Community College on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
