Three-Pointers Hurt Aztecs Men’s Basketball in Second Half


The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (2-5, 2-2 in conference) took control for a good portion of the first half against No. 13 Phoenix College but could not keep up with its three-point shooting in the second half. The Aztecs fell 92-68 on Saturday in Phoenix.

Phoenix College hit 10 three-pointers in the second half to break away and outscored the Aztecs 59-35.

 The Aztecs scored the first nine points of the game and later continued to build its lead with an 11-2 run to take a 29-13 lead with six minutes left in the half but Phoenix College would outscore Pima 22-5 to tie the game 33-33 at the break.

Murphy Gershman (Tucson Magnet HS) finished the game with his fourth double-double of the season. He had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Pima.

The Aztecs will play at Scottsdale Community College on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
