The 2014 Boys and Girls State Junior Golf Championship will be held at The Gallery Golf Club, on July 8 and 9, 2014. For the sixth year in a row, the 2014 Arizona Boys & Girls State Junior Championships will be administered by the four state golf associations, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA), Southwest Section PGA, Arizona Golf Association and the Arizona Women’s Golf Association.
The Boys field includes Oro Valley standout, Chris Meyers, winner of four JGAA events this year and Arizona representative for the upcoming Junior America’s Cup. Also, competing is Gavin Cohen, sophomore to be at Catalina Foothills has two top-3 finishes this year and recently qualified for the PGA Junior Championship. Brock Goyen of Mesa, will also represent Arizona on the Junior America’s Cup and has seven top-3 finishes, including 2nd place finishes at four tournaments. Eric Ghim is the winner of the Tucson City Junior Championship and the Mesa City Junior Championship and recently qualified for the USGA Public Links Championship. The Boys Division is stacked with talent and will be an exciting match to witness.
The Girls field is highlighted by Haylin Harris, an incoming freshman at Salpointe, recently won the Thompson Invitational last week and has an additional six top-5 finishes. Harris will also be competing in the Callaway World Championship. Another Tucsonan to watch is Sydney Colwill, finished 3rd at the Thompson Invitational and won the Tucson City Junior Championship last month. Also, Mikayla Fitzpatrick, a Xavier College Prep player has seven top-3 finishes and will be competing in the Callaway Junior Championship and representing Arizona in the Girl’s Junior America’s Cup.

Founded in 1983, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) is a non-profit organization that introduces Arizona’s youth to the game of golf and helps junior golfers develop golf and life skills through educational programs and tournaments.
