The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (5-4, 5-4 in conference) dropped its third straight game on Thursday falling against Mesa Community College 3-2 at the Kino North Grandstand.
The Aztecs got on the board early when Zach Schmidt (Ironwood Ridge) used a header to score the goal off a throw-in by Garrett Andreatta (Canyon del Oro HS) in the 4th minute. Mesa responded quickly with two goals in the 5th and 8th minutes to take a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Mesa took a 3-1 lead after a goal in the 66th minute but the Aztecs cut into the lead when Fernando Sanz (Rincon HS) scored a goal on a penalty kick. The Aztecs had six corner kicks and two shots on goal for the game.
Hector Zambrano (Pueblo HS) finished with one save for Pima.
The Aztecs will be back at the Kino North Grandstand on Saturday when they host Scottsdale Community College at 7 p.m.
