The Pima Community College softball team (8-2, 5-1 in conference) had very different games against Mesa Community College on Tuesday but the Aztecs were able to come away with the victories. Gemma Contreras (Salpointe Catholic HS) had the big bat for Pima with five hits in two games.

After back-to-back singles by Aubre Carpenter (Sabino HS) and Contreras; followed by a walk to Cynthia Pelayo (Vision HS), Alejandra Ortiz (Tucson Magnet HS) hit a 3-run RBI double to centerfield that cleared the bases and gave the Aztecs the lead for good. Contreras finished the game going 2 for 3 with a run scored.

The offense took over in the second game as the Aztecs won 12-3 in five innings. Pima trailed 2-0 after the top of the 1st inning but responded quickly. The Aztecs scored four runs in the inning as Alvarez hit a 3-run homer to give the Aztecs a 4-2 lead.
