CDO in field for 15th annual Salpointe tip

Salpointe Catholic hosts its 15th annual Salpointe Tipoff Classic during Thanksgiving week, with 16 boys basketball teams testing themselves in season-opening competition.

This year’s tourney features there defending state champions and a state runner-up.

Canyon Del Oro represents the Northwest in the field, competing with the host school, Amphi, Rincon, Buena, Palo Verde, Sabino and Cienega from greater Tucson in round-robin pool play this Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 22-24.

At the same time, Chandler hosts pool play among Phoenix schools North, Central, Scottsdale Saguaro, Desert Vista, Red Mountain, McClintock and Gilbert Christian.

From pool results, a bracketed tournament is being held at Salpointe Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26 and 27.

Tix on sale for Match Play at Ritz Feb. 21-27

Tickets are on sale for the 2011 World Golf Championships / Accenture Match Play Championship, to be held Feb. 21-27 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain in Marana.

The world’s top 64 golfers compete for the championship on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course in the foothills of the Tortolita Mountains.

Package and general admission tickets are available now. General admission day packages range from $25 to $45 in advance, and are $10 higher at the gate. Monday-Sunday packages are $125 per person in advance.

Walter Hagen Club and Canyon Club weekly packages are on sale as well.

Match Play offers youth and military ticket discounts. All proceeds benefit the charities of the Tucson Conquistadores.
