The Canyon Del Oro Dorados improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating Catalina Foothills 19-12 on Friday night.

The Dorados took advantage of an early fumble recovery, which led to an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Closs-Lopez to Tristan Peterson.

Shortly after, Max Smith found the end zone on a one yard rushing touchdown to make it 13-3.

Catalina Foothills added a touchdown and field goal in the second half to tighten things up, but CDO managed to stay on top due to a 39-yard touchdown pass from Closs-Lopez to receiver Tommy Sawyer.

The Dorados next face Maricopa on Oct. 11, while Catalina Foothills will look for redemption against Flowing Wells on the same day.
