The Marana High School football team finished their regular season with a 49-7 win over Rincon. It was their eighth straight win and earned them the No. 7 seed in the 5A state tournament. For the first time in school history the Tigers will host a postseason football game. On Friday night at 7 p.m., the Tigers will play Kellis High School from the Phoenix area, their first playoff game in almost a decade.
The school is inviting all Marana High School grads and residents of the area to come out and root on the Tigers.
“Please come out and help your team and your community do something that hasn’t happened in a long, long time,” said former Marana football player and current assistant coach Toby Bourguet. “Our coaching staff, our players, and our school thank you for supporting us through the years and we are proud to represent you. We’re not just a school, we’re a community.”
Mountain View and Ironwood Ridge will also be hosting first round football games.
