Sign-ups this Saturday for OV junior golf

Oro Valley Junior Golf tees off with registration this Saturday, June 19 from noon to 3 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods in Oro Valley Marketplace.

During registration, golf pros from Dick's can fit participants for clubs, and discounts are available.

Oro Valley Junior Golf takes place at participating golf clubs July 26-29. The four-day golf program provides youth with instruction provided by professional golfers. It is designed for ages 6-17, and covers fundamentals of the game. This year, there is a new intermediate to advanced level for ages 12-17.

Young people are playing at the Oro Valley Country Club, Rancho Vistoso Golf Club, Crooked Tree Golf Course and the Hilton El Conquistador. Each participant receives a Junior Golf polo shirt, visor and more.

Cost is $75 for Oro Valley residents and $80 for non-residents. Registration is also available online or at the Parks & Recreation office.

OV Day with Tucson Toros this Sunday

It's "Oro Valley Community Day" with the Tucson Toros baseball team this Sunday, June 20.

The game starts at 7 p.m. Sunday at Hi Corbett Field.

The Toros are saluting local communities by dedicating games to those communities. This is the second season for the Southern Division champions, who play in the Golden Baseball League, consisting of 10 teams playing 90 games.

Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath has been invited to throw out the first pitch, and Oro Valley will be recognized over the public address system throughout. Community information is being shared along the concourse.

Tickets are available by calling 325-2010. Group discounts and special pricing for game suites are available.
