The Pima Community College softball team (8-15, 6-10 in conference) continued to struggle on Saturday as the Lady Aztecs were swept at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher. Alexis Dotson went 4 for 7 in the doubleheader.
The Lady Aztecs scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning but the rally was cut short as they lost 7-5 in the first game. Eastern broke open the 3-3 tie with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings.
Stephanie Vejar (Tucson Magnet HS) took the loss for the Lady Aztecs giving up seven runs on 11 hits. She dropped to 5-6 on the season. Dotson went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a run scored and a triple. Jackie Hernandez (Desert Ridge HS) finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored while Stacey Ramirez (Benson HS) was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
The Lady Aztecs were shut out in the second game as they lost 8-0 in five innings. Eastern scored four runs in the fifth inning to end it.
Celina Martinez (Cienega HS) gave up seven runs on eight hits and dropped to 2-6 on the year. The offense had seven hits for the game as Dotson finished 2 for 4. Hernandez and Valerie Luera (Cienega HS) each went 1 for 3 and Ramirez finished 1 for 1 with a walk.
The Lady Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Tuesday when they host Arizona Western College at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
