Golf fans can see some of the finest Division 1 collegiate players this Saturday and Sunday, when the Mountain View Collegiate Invitational Golf Tournament unfolds at Mountain View Golf Course.

It’s free, too.

Women from 19 schools tee off for 36 holes at 8 a.m. Saturday, and 18 holes at 8 a.m. Sunday. Both starts are shotgun-style.

Bob Sneddon, one of the volunteer organizers at the tournament, said visitors might find some good viewing spots at:

• #4, a par 3 with an elevated tee into a sloping green;

• #8, a par 3 with water left of the green;

• #9, a “very challenging hole” with a dogleg left and plenty of sand;

• #3, crossed by a drainage ditch. Most of the players “will drive up to the ditch,” then “go over to the green,” Sneddon said.

To reach the Mountain View Golf Course, guests should turn into SaddleBrooke, then take the first right onto Mountain View Boulevard. There should be signs. The pro shop is about a mile south on the right hand side of the road.

Refreshments are being sold Saturday.

Saturday’s 18 holes typically ends around noon, Sneddon said, with awards about 12:30 p.m.
