Golder Ranch Fire District

February is Heart Disease Awareness month. There are several different resources you can use to determine your risk of heart disease and methods to reduce it. The American Heart Association at www.heart.org and the Centers for Disease Control at www.cdc.gov, are both excellent online resources.

One thing you can do is become certified in both first aid and CPR. Armed with this knowledge, you become a valuable link in the chain of survival for those experiencing a cardiac emergency. Golder Ranch Fire District is proud to offer both of these classes at a low cost to district residents and the general public. CPR classes are offered three times a month and is available in several different certification levels. The first aid certification is offered quarterly and delivered at our training center. Additionally, Golder Ranch public educators can customize a schedule for groups such as local businesses, athletic teams, and neighborhood groups. Schedules for all classes are found on our website at www.grfdaz.gov.

If you are at risk for or are already suffering from heart disease, it is never to late to start taking better care of yourself and the condition. Consult your physician on steps you can take to live a long, healthy lifestyle. If someone you know or love suffers from heart disease, the best thing you can do is become educated on  their condition, and learn first aid and CPR.
