I was pleased to see the article “Tactically training,” showing how Oro Valley Police receive regular training for active shooting scenarios. I am a teacher in a private school here in Oro Valley, and last year OVPD did a training for our teachers on active shooting scenarios. It was by far one of the most informative trainings I have ever attended. The presenters from the police department did an excellent job describing possible scenarios, and what teachers can do to immediately respond until police arrive, and then proceeded to explain our role once police do arrive on the scene. I would highly recommend that our local schools schedule this training on one of their in-service days this school year. There is no price on the safety of our children. Thank you to OVPD for providing this training opportunity for our community.
